Permanent Exhibits - Cordova Historical Society and Museum

Permanent Exhibits

Featured Items from the Collection

Encompassing more than half of the museum’s public footprint, the permanent exhibits highlight and bring to life the region’s history with carefully curated displays.

Mostly hand-crafted by talented staff and locals, the displays focus on preserved artifacts, vivid staging, and photograhic records. The limited descriptions allow visitors to find their own connections to Cordova’s history and hopefully inspire curiosity and a desire to learn more after their visit ends.

Sense of Time, Sense of Place: A Timeline of Events

Fishing: The waters are our lifeblood and have shaped the region’s economy for generations.

Copper River & Northwestern Railway: Oil and mining attracted kingpins of development to the area.

Cape St. Elias Fresnel Lens: An unmatched beauty, the lens provides atmosphere for a collection of shipwreck memorabilia.
